The US Department of Labor has just issued the following reminder to employers that the federal minimum wage is now $7.25 per hour, as is New Jersey's state manadated minimum wage.
The federal minimum wage requirements apply to businesses with at least $500,000 in sales or income and hospitals, businesses providing medical or nursing care for residents, schools and pre-schools and goverment agencies.
However, New Jersey's mimimum wage requirements apply to all employers, with exception of certain job exclusions, such as automobile and outside sales people.
Barron & Posternock, LLP regularly represents employers and employees in matters involving the Fair Labor Standards Act and New Jersey's Wage and Hour Law. Please contact Tom Barron at 856-642-6445 if you have any questions or with to discuss your situation.
